Health & Safety

The welfare of your child is important to us.

When your child is about to start school we ask you to provide us with some confidential information. If there are any long-standing medical conditions, illnesses or injuries we should be aware of please let us know. This information may be vital if special or urgent attention is required at school.

We may occasionally need to contact you during the school day if, for instance, your child becomes ill or has an accident. For this reason we ask you to update information about your child annually, giving details of emergency telephone numbers. We do try to keep these “emergency” calls to a minimum, but we feel that the immediate well being of your child is essential.

You can be assured that should an “emergency” occur we would try to contact you immediately and ensure that prompt action is taken. Mrs Dornan is our first named first-aider so she will initially deal with any first aid problems. We take bangs to the head very seriously and should this happen parents will be informed personally or in writing.

For the well being of everyone, we would appreciate it if children were not encouraged to attend school when they are ill.

Claire Church (school nurse) is based at Keyworth Primary Care Centre and can be contacted at any time should you require any help or advice. She carries out health appraisals on all new entrants and also undertakes routine eye tests, etc.

Every school in Nottinghamshire is required to follow set procedures in cases of suspected child abuse. Head Teachers are required to refer their concerns for further investigation so that children at risk can be identified quickly. This procedure is intended to protect children from abuse.

For reasons of your child’s safety, if your child is unwell and not coming to school please contact us before school starts. If we have not heard we will attempt to contact you.
