Willoughby Primary School Safeguarding Principles

Nottinghamshire Child Protection policy (PDF)

At Willoughby Primary School, we believe in fostering a child centred and coordinated approach to safeguarding and child protection. Our safeguarding model promotes a consistent and co-ordinated approach to policy and practice.

We recognise the following four elements as pivotal to our statutory and moral duty to promote the safety and welfare of all children in our school and prepare them for the next phase in their life:

  • Prevention (e.g. positive school atmosphere, teaching and pastoral support for pupils, safer recruitment procedures);
  • Protection (by following agreed procedures, ensuring staff are trained and supported to respond appropriately and sensitively to Child Protection concerns);
  • Support (to pupils and school staff and to children who may have been harmed or abused);
  • Working with parents (to ensure appropriate communications and actions are taken).

The Designated Safeguarding lead is Mrs Joanne Linnett and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding lead is Mrs Alice Smith. Please contact the school office, if you would like to speak to them.
