We value our strong relationship with parents and would love you to be actively and closely involved with the education of your child throughout his or her time at Willoughby School.

We invite parents to discuss the individual progress of their child at termly meetings with the class teacher. On the first of these occasions in the Autumn Term, we find that an exchange of information about a child is mutually beneficial.

We encourage you as parents to talk to your child’s class teacher at any time, especially if you have any particular worries or concerns about your child’s well-being, welfare or progress at school. Annual Reports are sent home in July. This is not a complete or ideal method of communication and we encourage parents to discuss this report with their child’s class teacher at the Summer Term Parents’ Evening or Open Day.

We believe that children benefit when their parents and teachers work in partnership for the good of the children. We are very keen for parents to support their children in school. This can be done in a variety of different ways: –

  • By supporting and showing an interest in all activities that your child does in school. By hearing your child read regularly and sharing a love of books.
  • Parents are most welcome to come into school to help and they are valued for the extra support that they give. We are very keen to recruit extra pairs of hands in school. Many people have skills and enthusiasms that they could share with our children.
  • We organise extra-curricular activities for our children. We would like to do more. Can you help with cooking, art and craft, swimming, needlework, sports and games, music tuition, chess? You don’t have to be an expert! If you can offer any help, please get in touch with us at school.
