On September 17th, the children in class 2 had the amazing opportunity to go to London to visit the Houses of Parliament.

We learned so much about democracy and the law making process of our country. It was amazing to go into Westminster Palace, the oldest part of the Houses of Parliament, where lots of significant people have stood and spoken. We also went into the House of Commons and saw where our Prime Minister stands, the Speaker and the Members of Parliament sit.

We took part in a workshop which helped reinforce all the things we had learned through playing games like pictionary and ‘guess the object’, which was all linked to parliament and how laws are made. We finished off with having a debate about whether or not we should have a therapy pet in school.

The children had great fun playing in the shadow of the Houses of Parliament, alongside the River Thames and were excited by police helicopters flying overhead. Although it was a long day, it was a fantastic experience that we will all remember in years to come!
