Class 2 recently took part in a rainforest workshop with Explorer Academy.
Simon, an experienced explorer, led the day and brought to life the amazing rainforest for us, telling stories of dangerous creatures, disgusting fruits and gruesome injuries. He also explained why rainforests are so important to the world and the devastating effects of deforestation.
The children loved the day and were very engaged.
“It was a really interesting day – the story about the botfly was great…but disgusting” – MA Y5
“All the photos and videos really made me feel like I was in the rainforest. So many of the creatures were cute!” – GH Y3
“I didn’t know there are rainforests all over the world except Antarctica” ES Y3
“We learnt about the bullet ant. When it stings you, it feels like a bullet and you feel excruciating pain for 24 hours” – ME Y6
“I really enjoyed the speed drawing activity. Dressing up in explorer clothes was fun too” TH Y4
“I loved seeing the picture of the rotten and mouldy feet when they had been in wet boots too long! Did you know the more colourful poisonous dart frogs are, the more poisonous they are? ” – JB Y5
