Children love art! Our approach enthuses the children and leads to some creative art, craft and design opportunities within the overall topic-based approach.
Art, craft and design provides visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a special way of understanding and responding to the world. Enabling children to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern- using different materials and processes, the art, craft and design experiences at Willoughby have a positive impact on other areas of the curriculum.
As with all subjects, we ensure a progression in the full range of skills needed by the children and promoting breadth and balance in their work is very important to us.
Below are examples of our children’s artwork – ‘Poppies’ inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe and others depicting a ‘Journey into Space’.
