Year 5 and Year 6 have been busy studying cafes in French, learning the vocabulary for a range of delicious foods and drinks.
They have practised key phrases for ordering, serving customers and handling money.
To put their learning into practice, they proudly opened the doors to’ Café au Willoughby’ for their families. The classroom was transformed into a bustling French café, where the children confidently and independently took orders, served tea, coffee and tasty treats, presented the bill and even worked out the correct change — all while speaking fantastic French.

After serving their guests so professionally, the roles were reversed and the children became the customers — which they very much enjoyed!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. And most importantly, well done to all the children for their excellent French, enthusiasm and teamwork. You are all Willoughby Wonder Stars!
