Following Class 2’s visit to the Houses of Parliament last term, we were delighted to welcome James Naish (MP) into school.

He reinforced many of the things we had learned about how laws are made and how democracy works.

The children were fascinated to discover that MPs are traditionally allowed to carry a sword—if they wish to—and that there are 650 MPs in total! James also asked the children what laws they would introduce if they were MPs. Here are a few of their ideas:

  • Ban vaping and smoking.
  • Have a shorter school day.
  • Make sure all cars park on the left-hand side of the road.

What new laws would you introduce?
