Willoughby School children won’t forget the satisfying clunk of leather on willow for a while, after a successful performance at the annual Keyworth Cricket Festival this month.

Okay, they didn’t play with leather balls and willow bats, but they did play brilliantly and with great sportsman – and woman – ship!

At the fantastic all-day Kwik Cricket competition for local schools, one of our pupils won the girls’ clap-catch competition and 2 won good sportsmanship awards.

Miss Smith, who accompanied the pupils from year 3 upwards, said “We are so proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and the skills they have developed. Being able to bring them to events such as this competition is a great way to introduce them to new sports.”
