VISION 2022 | Learning for Life
Willoughby Primary School provides an outstanding, all round education, delivered within a caring, ‘family’ environment. We recognise as priorities the need to promote the highest standards of teaching and learning and to help every child in their progress and attainment, so that they realise their potential.
Much of what we aspire to will be true of all schools, for example an emphasis on teaching and learning to raise achievement levels, but there are other aspects that are unique to Willoughby as a small school in a relatively rural community.
We have a vision for our school which strives to sustain and develop further our outstanding achievements. Our pictorial representation, (which includes the values that underpin our vision) shows how we will continue to deliver ‘Learning for Life.’ The ideas and ambitions shown here have been developed by pupils, staff, governors and parents.
School seeks to maintain a central role in the life of the village and develop close community links. To remain vibrant and viable, our school must be the school of choice for all families in this and neighbouring villages. We will strive to reinforce and promote that case.
As a small school we wish to maintain a family ethos, where there is a real community spirit, where staff have good knowledge of and relationships with children and families and have ‘an open door’ culture. We will also continue to develop our collaboration within the family of South Wolds schools and the Rushcliffe Learning Alliance (RLA).
Our vision for teaching is to create an exciting curriculum, which engages and challenges pupils to learn, whilst having fun; where everyone feels supported and valued, guided by high moral values; in a safe & secure environment.
The children have suggested our values to be: “A school where all children play nicely, everyone is happy, it’s easy to make friends, and everyone is kind; where we value everyone as an individual and value everyone’s different gifts and talents… “We’re not all good at the same things.”
The children’s future vision for their school is: “To remain as a small school, with numbers around 50 – so everyone knows everyone well; where there is a chance to perform; where there is no fighting or bullying; where there are small class groups (but at least 10), meaning it’s easier for the teachers to get around; which is a safe and secure place to learn.
Working as a team, underpinned by our strategic Vision (2012 – 2017)) we achieved much. Vision 2022 strives for the goal of delivering ‘Learning for Life’ in a changing educational landscape and it is to this end we enlist the support of all involved in the life of Willoughby Primary.
