As part of our Design & Technology curriculum, Class 1 were challenged to design and make a musical instrument which actually played music!

At home, the children prepared their plans and collected useful materials. On the day, they had great fun fashioning their musical instruments from cardboard, string, straws, ribbon…you name it, they used it! Elastic bands, rice and beads helped the instruments come to life – it got quite noisy!!

From drums, to guitars, shakers and castanets, the children had thought of some excellent ideas. We even had a little music session at the end, trying them out in groups.
